Safer Internet Day 2017

Margaret Aylward  CC celebrated Safer Internet Day for the first time today.  Safer Internet Day is an EU wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users, especially young people. It is promoted in Ireland by the PDST Technology in Education and Webwise, and will be celebrated in Ireland on Tuesday 7th February 2017. The Theme this year is ‘Be the change: Unite for a better internet’. Students were presented with wristbands to mark the occasion.

Students designed posters and information leaflets about safety when using popular apps.  They will be looking at the issue of cyberbullying in their CSPE classes, creating word clouds and participating in a survey examining use of social media.  These will link in with our Literacy and Numeracy initiatives.  A talk on Internet safety is planned for our Wednesday parents group on the 8th February.

We will keep you posted about these activities in the coming days.
