Welcome back to the library everyone; the books, magazines, computers, Kindles and games have missed you! A huge hello to the new 1st years, our Cherry Blossom class.
There will be a reading reward toward the end of the month, for all 1st-3rd years who completed the Summer Reading Challenge of 3-5 novels and a New York Times news article. Let’s call it a mystery trip…
On September 13, 4 lucky members of the Writers Club will travel with Ms Leahy and I to Poetry Ireland on Parnell St for a workshop with former Welsh Poet Laureate Ifor ap Glyn (He’s kind of a big deal…) Only two other schools nationally have been chosen to attend, so we are honoured!
Turning our Maths eyes toward October, we will have Maths Week October 23-27 with the highlight being a full day visit from LearnIT.ie who will run a Lego Robotics workshop involving building Lego robot cars, simple coding and maths.
National Science Week is November 12-19 and we will host Make Create Innovate in the library for a workshop turning everyday conductive objects into games controllers and making sound objects.
These events will also involve groups of students from schools we are collaborating with this year – Rosmini and Beneavin.
Photos and updates soon!
